What is the Romans road to salvation?
The Romans Road to Salvation found in the Bible
The Problem
Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
Romans 3:10 (NKJV)
The Scriptures tell us, “As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one”
This confirms the natural state of every human as sinful in the eyes of a Holy God . This sets out the background to the problem facing mankind. A problem all religions try to find a resolution to.
The Consequences
Romans 5:12 (NKJV)
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Here we see the extent and depth of the problem and the consequences if we go our own way to try and solve it . There is a hint here of a hope of help ahead.
The Scope
Romans 1:20 (NKJV)
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
We may say I’m not that interested , anyway God never spoken to me so how can I be accountable for not understanding the gospel. Hebrews Chapter 9 verse 27 says “it is appointed for men to die once, but after that the judgement.”
The Solution
Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:17 (NKJV ) –
So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
This road of discovery now begins to offer hope, here we see God’s love has been offered to all mankind, . We also see the death of Jesus Christ on a cross is an integral part of the plan of salvation.
The Response
Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV)
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation..
Once we understand our need of a saviour to solve the problem we are in , and recognise that Jesus Christ is in deed that saviour , we can now respond by calling out to Jesus .
The Assurance
Romans 10:13 (NKJV)
For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Here we see the good news is this response is open to everyone,
The Result
Romans 5:1 (NKJV)
Since we have been acquitted and made right through faith, we are able to experience true and lasting peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, the Liberating King.
Romans 8:1 (NKJV)
Those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment.
Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV)
I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Once a a sinner like you and I declare and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is able to save us and confess that he is now Lord of our life, we see here that saved sinners can enjoy peace with God, no longer separated from a Holy God by sin. There is now no condemnation and that being a fact means we are now sons and daughters of almighty God and therefore heirs of his eternal heaven and everlasting life.
